Casey is one of our “Catering Captains” for The Chef Next Door, meaning she is fully trained and capable of running an event in Chef Margaret’s absence! She oversees and ensures that all areas of your event are running smoothly on our end…though we can’t vouch for how your groomsmen are behaving! “Marriott”, also being the Kitchen Manager for The Marketplace Cafe, makes sure that all food needed for your event arrives to our kitchen, and is heavily involved in prepping the food once it hits our door. Casey came to us in April 2013 from Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, where she served as the Assistant Food and Beverage Director…a very impressive position for a 22 year old graduate from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Restaurant and Hospitality Management. (Roll Tide!) When she’s not at work, Casey loves cooking (believe it or not), traveling, the beach, dogs, spending time with her husband Brandon, and most importantly, Alabama Football! Casey’s favorite dishes we serve include Turkey-Apple-Muenster Crostini, Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip, and our famous Shrimp and Grits!

Daniele Butner

Daniele, aka “DeeDee” marched into the cafe one day, handed us her resume, and told us she wanted a job!  We weren’t hiring at the time, but she impressed Chef Margaret so much by keeping in touch and keeping herself fresh in our minds over the next few months that we hired her the moment we had the chance. Daniele has a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Troy University and served as a Catering Manager for McAlister’s Deli before we scooped her up. DeeDee joined our team in August of 2013 and did such a good job, we rapidly promoted her to “Front of House Manager” for the cafe, and she is well on her way to becoming a “Catering Captain” for The Chef Next Door in the near future.

Daniele always earns rave reviews from customers and fellow wedding vendors for her unwavering smile and gracious attitude. Daniele has a keen eye for detail and often is able to point out things that Chef Margaret may have overlooked…she is definitely perfect for the catering business! Daniele often works 14 hour days with us and still has the energy to “go out” afterwards. She LOVES the Braves baseball, hanging out with friends and family and her boyfriend Tyler, baking, and exploring and supporting local Huntsville events! DeeDee’s CND favorites include Turkey-Apple-Muenster Crostini, Bacon Swiss Tartlets, and Shrimp and Grits!

Lori is another one of our “Jill of All Trades”, as she happily helps out whenever and wherever she is needed…whether it’s keeping up with our Front of House inventory, setting up tables for large parties at the cafe, assembling 600 crostini, stuffing 400 tartlets, or even washing dishes! She truly jumps in wherever she is needed and has become invaluable to both The Marketplace Cafe and The Chef Next Door. 

Lori originally worked for The Interior Marketplace while she was in high school, and would randomly jump in to help us seat customers or run food on busy days or stay after to help us set up a catering event. It’s hard to say exactly when she started working with us, because, well, it seems as if she’s been with us all along! Lori is currently attending Athens State for a degree in Education and will be the perfect teacher one day.  Lori loves traveling with her family, baking, reading, shopping, and volunteering with Huntsville City Schools.

Her favorite dishes we serve are Shrimp and Grits, Bacon Swiss Tartlets, Mac and Cheese, Hashbrown Casserole, Turkey-Apple-Muenster Crostini, and….stay out of her way when we serve Garlic Cheddar Corn Muffins!

Taylor Baggett

Much to his disapproval, Taylor, Chef Margaret’s husband, deserves a spot on this page more than anybody…even Chef Margaret herself.  Taylor, better known as “Willis” or “Czar”, has been by Margaret’s side since the tender age of 16. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in Finance and Business, and was not going to be satisfied until he and Margaret combined their education and talents together to start their own business…or two businesses.  Finance/Business Degree + Restaurant Management/Culinary Degree = The Chef Next Door Catering and later The Marketplace Cafe!  Taylor is truly the “Wizard of Oz” behind the curtain who you rarely get to see, but he keeps the engine room burning for both companies and allows Margaret to do what she is best at, while not being bogged down by owning-a-business tasks that she doesn’t enjoy….accounting, keeping the books, payroll, and so forth. If you can manage to tear him away from his work, Taylor enjoys golf, running, cooking, traveling, Fantasty Football/Baseball, Scotch, Alabama football, and Braves baseball.  Taylor’s favorite dishes we serve for catering include Pork Tenderloin Sliders with Rosemary-Maple-Dijon Sauce, Cinnamon Apple Bread Pudding, and Margaret’s Mashed Potatoes.
